Whether your car breaks down on the road, you’ve had a minor traffic accident, or you simply need to transport your vehicle from one location to another – a towing service is often your first line of assistance.
But one of the most common questions drivers ask is: “How much does towing cost per kilometer?”
What does the cost per kilometer include?
At first glance, it seems simple – just measure the distance the vehicle needs to be towed and multiply it by the price per kilometer. However, in practice, it’s not always that straightforward.
Towing cost is typically calculated from the moment the tow truck departs to the pickup location, and then to the final destination – not just the distance from point A to point B.
For example, if your car is in Obrenovac, and the tow truck departs from central Belgrade to take the vehicle to a service center in Zemun, the total mileage will include the entire route – not just Obrenovac to Zemun.
Average towing prices per kilometer in Serbia
Towing prices in Serbia vary, but typically fall within the following range:
-
Within the city: from 2,500 to 3,000 RSD per intervention (fixed rate up to a certain distance)
-
Outside the city: from 100 to 150 RSD per kilometer
-
Night, weekends, and holidays: a surcharge of 20–50% may apply
Of course, these prices also depend on the type of vehicle being towed. Towing a small car is not the same as transporting a van, motorcycle, or commercial vehicle.
Factors affecting the price per kilometer
In addition to distance, several factors influence the final towing price:
-
Vehicle type – Larger or heavier vehicles require specialized equipment and more manpowerAccess to the vehicle – Is the vehicle easily accessible, or stuck, locked, or off-road?
-
Time of intervention – Towing during rush hour, at night, on holidays, or in bad weather may increase the cost
-
Tow truck return trip – One-way towing may include return mileage in the cost
-
Additional services – For example, roadside repairs, flat tire change, or battery jump-start
That’s why it’s important to clearly explain your situation when calling, so you get an accurate estimate and avoid any unpleasant surprises.
